Policies

Return Policy:

It is our hope that you’ll be completely satisfied with your purchase at Shade Home & Garden. We will give thoughtful consideration to your request for a return, exchange, or credit of our products. Shade only accepts returns on all non-plant related goods within seven (7) days of purchase as long as the item(s) are accompanied by an original receipt and are in “non-altered” condition. Shade does not accept returns on any living plant goods including: Houseplants, Living Arrangements, Annuals, Perennials, Roses, Shrubs and/or Trees.

Full Refund:  To qualify for a full refund of the good(s) you are returning, please bring the item back to Shade Home & Garden within 24 hours from the original date of purchase.

In-Store Credit:  If returning an item after 24 hours, in-store credit will be issued for the amount paid at the time of purchase.

Note: Merchandise without an original receipt or proof of purchase is not able to be returned. Chemical-based products and plant remedy supplies such as fertilizers, sprays, etc. are not returnable once opened. All clearance items are deemed final sale and no guarantees or returns will be offered. Any purchases that use Shade Rewards are considered final sale. Guarantees are not offered to those that receive landscaper discounts. Please see below for exceptions.

Special Orders: Special ordered items in sizes, colors, quantities, styles, or varieties not normally stocked may not be returned. We encourage our customers to carefully consider their needs before placing special orders; please note that all special orders require a 50% non-refundable pre-payment prior to ordering. All Final Sale – no returns or exchanges.

Furniture: All furniture items purchased at full price can be returned within seven (7) days for a store credit of the merchandise cost. Furniture must be returned in like-new condition. Returns should be made in the original receipt, and packaging materials, when possible.

Vehicle Loading: We are happy to assist in loading purchases into vehicles. It is important that customers review their invoices or make sure that they have received all items purchased. In addition, customers should inspect the manner in which the items are loaded before leaving the nursery. Shade is not responsible for damaged or broken items once the customer has left the nursery.

It is our passion to ensure that our customers are completely happy with their Shade experience and purchases. It is our sincere hope that our customers will utilize good judgment and a spirit of fairness before requesting to return purchases.  Shade reserves the right to make the final judgment as to the appropriateness of a return.

Plant Guarantees/Warranties

We ask that you take extra care with your living plants as they are perishable and subject to variable conditions such as weather, transportation, soil quality, watering, and positioning in your garden. Acceptance of our plant products at the time of sale is considered proof of good health and survivability. Because live plants are subject to variable conditions, we are not able to offer guarantees or warranties on living products including: Houseplants, Living Arrangements, Annuals, Perennials, Roses, Shrubs and/or Trees.

We are happy to share our expertise with you to maximize your success with our plants, trees, and shrubs. Prior to the time of purchase, please see one of our Nursery Specialists or refer to our planting and watering guideline sheets for more information on how to care for plant materials.

On-site Photo Policy:

Shade Home & Garden maintains a strict policy against the use of its property (all interior spaces, exterior grounds, etc.) for unauthorized professional, amateur or commercial photography/videography purposes. All photo shoot requests must be made at least 24 hours in advance to the date of the requested shoot before they can be considered.

Photo shoots must be arranged in advance, and will be considered on a case-by-case basis. A site fee will be charged for all Family sessions, Engagement/Wedding sessions and Fashion sessions. All other photography will need to be approved, and may or may not be charged a site fee. We ask that if you are posting to social media such as Instagram, Facebook or a photography blog that Shade receives credit as the location. Please note, that if you have not received approval you will be asked to cease the photography session. For additional information, please see the following:

  • Shade has the right, at its sole discretion, to withhold or withdraw consent to photograph and video (or to reproduce photographs or video) of Shade Home & Garden.
  • Photographer promises to defer all convenience to customers of Shade.
  • Photographer will not obstruct any thoroughfare, aisleway, etc. with model staging or equipment but instead will protect foot traffic areas for the benefit of Shade customers and its employees.
  • Shade restrooms will not be used for a changing/dressing room area. If a changing/dressing room is needed, the Bridal Room can be approved for this purpose upon request.
  • Please check our store hours as they change seasonally. Acceptable photography times are 30 minutes after Shade opening time and can be taken until 30 minutes prior to Shade closing, Monday through Saturday.
  • Photo shoots are limited to 1 hour.
  • No defacing of Shade property including but not limited to, moving of retail goods such as benches and planters, plants, gift shop goods, etc. to aid in staging.

Keep in mind, these policies and guidelines are not meant to be restrictive, but simply to help avoid operational challenges, space conflicts and interruption for customers utilizing our property.
